Instagram Link Up for Instagram Selvedges Along

Well finally this Mondo bag is finished.  I made a couple of extra things to go with the bag. Wow...it is a HUGE  bag, would be really great for the beach or as an overnight bag...even a diaper bag.  I have lots of pictures of the making of this bag...it was a lot of fun, even with the Shinges I've had to deal with for 6 weeks now!

Here is the finished bag...

These are the extras.....a removable cardboard bottom, covered with batting and fabric...11"x11".  Also 2 small selvedge bags...a coin/credit card size and a slightly larger bag for....whatever!

It all started with something like this...

I'm really pretty neat saving selvedges...I fold them and put them in  place in this basket.  I have hardly made a dent in these selvedges after making the Mondo bag though!

NOTE:  You may have noticed a discrepancy in my spelling of SELVEDGES, that's the way I have always spelled the word...but the Instagram group is
#selvegealong...so I go with the flow!!!

The above picture is after making an untold number of 2 1/2" squares...separately,  I  know I  could have done it another way...but I  didn't.  Anyhow I  got the pieces I  needed in place...but couldn't figure out how to sew it together.  I  went online to a group on Facebook..Just US Quilters...and got tons of info...including how to sew it together....

I was then able to sew the lining and the straps....and got this far...

At this point I realized how exceptionally large this bag is!  What a great bag to take to workshops....or conferences.

I made 2 large separated pockets and  2 smaller pockets in the bag....plus decided to make 2 bags to hold the smaller stuff .

Once again, here is the Mondo bag in all it'S glory!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!!!

Selvegagealong update

Well thanks to the ladies on Facebook (Just Us Quilters)...you ask something on there and "BOOM" they come up with the answers!  Great group.

I joined the Instagram #selvaegealong....go check it out.

So, at last, I got the bag together... only pinned right now but lookin' good!

Will tackle the lining today....probably will take awhile.  First, choose a lining from stash...then add the batting....and make sure I put in pockets.

This bag is BIG...great for the beach, or whatever!

Sorry for the blurry picture....rainy day !

Have a great day!

Halfway for Selvagealong on Instagram

This is how far I've gotten on the mondo bag with selvedages!  One more side to go.  Unfortunately, I've had shingles (face, eye, scalp) and with all the meds I'm not progressing as I would like.  But only 1 mistake...involving 10 4 patches...sewed them wrong.  But they are already fixed...will try to cut the rest today...maybe even sew some.

Thank you much Terry.

Binding Blitz...January's finishes!

I’m linking up with JulieK today, because I actually managed to finish this piece from a few years ago!
This was a block of the month called Simple Thymes...but I can't remember where I got it!

It was a fun quilt to put together but I just never finished it till Julie started this Binding Blitz!!

This is the back...I had it pin basted for over a year!

My hand quilting leaves much to be desired...but it actually is easier on my poor arthritic hands than machine free motion quilting!

The second binding I did was this little runner.  We got a new TV for the bedroom and moved the old one into the living room...I wanted a quick little runner to place under it on the new shelf we had to make in the entertainment center.  This did the trick...quick and easy!

Thanks Julie for thinking of this...I usually bind quilts when I FINALLY finish the quilting part...so I may not have anymore for a while.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
