I decided to enter my doll quilt, SEAS THE DAY, which was made for the August Doll Quilters Monthly Swap.

http://dollquilters.blogspot.com/

This was a fun little quilt to make...I had scraps of the 'fruit ladies' fabric and a little water scene scrap....so I fused and raw edge appliqued the ladies to the beach scene...then added a small yellow border and then a 2 inch blue check border....then just assembled the  palm tree and bits and pieces of rocks, crabs and shells.  I embroidered SEAS THE DAY and free motion quilted the water, around the ladies, the palm tree, rocks, etc.  I thought the quilt fit the theme of the month...Sunny and Warm quite well.  The quilt measures about 16" square.

Finished Quilt measures 16" x 16"

Quilted by Anita Amodeo

Techniques used, raw edge applique

Best Catagory, Doll quilt, Wall Hanging, Art Quilt

My Paris Block for the Around the World Quilt Along 2

One of the blocks that I had to make for the AROUND THE WORLD QUILT ALONG 2 is below.  It is for a PARIS themed black and white quilt with a tiny bit of aqua....

I had some Betty Boop fabric...cute with red hearts...so I cut out the BB with the saying 'Going My Way?"...and made a paper pieced pattern for wonky flying geese to represent a road...the whole thing went on a Paris Street Map fabric.  Came out cute...hope she likes it!!

Texting While Sewing

I made another Texting While Sewing block.......

I have the book WHEN QUILTERS GATHER by Ruth B. McDowell for several years.  It has 20 wonderful designs of quilters doing their thing...from picking fabric, to cutting, sewing...just wonderful designs.

I misplaced the book and just recently found it...I couldn't resist making this block and adding the texting while sewing among the free motion quilting!  Just the thing for a literal interpretation for the Texting While Sewing challenge going on at During Quiet Time...

Texting While Sewing

I've joined Amy's http://duringquiettime.blogspot.com/ summer contest Texting While Sewing.  Swing by there and take a look, a really fun block contest and many wonderful prizes!

I had an idea about making a block for this contest...a literal translation of the title...I also wanted to use only text fabrics or fabrics with a sewing theme.

My idea was that this lady was texting while she was chain piecing and got distracted...well her chain piecing was flying out the window....
anyway, I thought it was kind of funny.

While I was gathering my fabrics I remembered I had this great Spanish tile fabric...small too.   Fit perfectly under the needle of the machine!

I also cut hair out of one of the fabrics, turned it upside down and arranged the pieces to fit my lady's head...didn't turn out too shabby!

Well here is my finished block....one thing, and if any one has an idea please let me know...I couldn't make the cell phone look like a cell phone...it looks more like a Kindle!!  I'm not able to figure how to make a keyboard in that small size that doesn't look like a blob!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out this contest!

Lots of Finishes....well blocks anyway!

I've been so busy with paper piecing (which takes a whole day or more for just one block)  and making my Bingo game card for May For Bingo and sending off my April Doll Quilt to my swap partner for the monthly Doll Quilters Monthly Swap....so here's lots of photos........

This is the Doll Quilt I made for April...3 Colors...I made a Wonky Zig Zag and sent it off to Canada!

The following blocks are with the Sew Out Loud Flicker Quilt Along.  These are probably the most intense and difficult paper pieced blocks I have ever made....good though!!!
Love every one of them...........
This is a Fabric Stand

A steaming iron...the idea is to use lots of text fabric and sewing related fabric

This is the last one I did...had LOTS of problems with it...very hard, wound up too big and I couldn't use the rest of the block (button jar)

Sew...I'll be saving it for the back of the quilt!

This is a cute one....warm quilts, happiness, what could be better

Pedal to the Metal..........crazy boot and lots of text!

This is one of the earlier blocks...I think I posted before.

This is the first block I did...very busy, but I'm liking it.

The words 'rip on' weren't showing up too well (in person) so I outlined them with embroidery floss.

This one was just tooooo cute....but difficult to get the 'fussy cuts' in the right place...came out ok.

The zipper would have been one of the easiest...if I hadn't tried to make 'teeth' on the zipper...good thing it was low contrast!

Just 2 more blocks to go...
that about finishes it............CLICK ON THE PICTURES TO ENLARGE

THANKS FOR STOPPING AND HAVE A GREAT DAY !!!

One Thing One Week Challenge

Boy did this week go fast...........I did meet my goal (late this morning).

Amy's Creative Side

I completed 2 block for the Sew Out Loud (quilters' wordplay) Quilt Along on Flicker

SOL QAL

I am finding these blocks incredibly hard to do...they take hours and hours...........I've paper pieced lots before, but I seem to get myself in trouble trying to 'fussy piece' an area and I just can't wrap myself around the 'backwards' thing.  Anyway, I will keep on going.  I've made 4 and I think there are still another 4 as of this week.
And, in the long run, the quilt will be great...the blocks are so adorable!

The other part of my challenge was to make the current New York Beauty block of the week, also on Flicker.
This is also paper pieced.

I'm also trying to finish up my yard sale from this weekend with Bonnie Hunter...........

I'm done for today, I am now going to read a little, not much on TV tonight.

Thanks for stopping by.

I bought this in September 2003.  Paid over $232.00.  Still have the receipt.
In the beginning I was sewing some 'flip and sew' quilts for charity and a serger is great for that kind of sewing.
